Swipe to see the progression of this prep. If you watched my last video, you will recognize the concretion. It had an interesting shape to it so I started prepping it and encountered a strange bone. After some further manual and acid prepping, it is starting to resemble an ear bone 🤔 I'll carry on with it and see if it is a cetacean ear bone. It's from a Miocene deposit.
Today's mystery find 🤔 Miocene era ocean deposit, I'm thinking it looks fishy 🐟 I love finding something that I have to do some research on 😁 Let me know if you recognize it! Edit: I think it is a really eroded crab 🦀
Very large shark vertebrae I found today! I've been finding quite a number of shark vertebrae recently after going for ages without finding any 🦈 Miocene era deposit
An interesting row of vertebrae in a very large concretion. The other piece of bone to the side of the vertebrae has quite a solid look to it. Miocene era coastal deposit here in New Zealand.
Found a big rock with some articulated vertebrae yesterday morning and went back today to fetch it with my trusty wagon. Swipe for some photos of the vert. I'm going to guess some Miocene era cetacean vertebrae. . . . .
A chunky bird humerus I found in a Pleistocene deposit. Wonder what it could be from? It's rather large and looks to be fossilized. Let me know what you think! 🦃🐓🐧🦆🦅 . . .
No prep work required on this Miocene fossil crab, mother nature did all the work for me 😁 Beautiful Tumidocarcinus that the was waiting for me on the beach this morning, I couldn't believe my eyes! . . . .
My most complete Nautiloid yet (Arturia?). I found it this morning, the side still in the rock should be pretty complete. . . . . .

Great shark tooth find! Hopefully some of the shark experts out there can confirm, I think this is a Chlamydoselachus keyesi. Swipe for some reference photos. It's quite a weird one, the chaps are pretty much the same size as the tooth 🤨 Whatever it is, it's a new species for my collection! . . . .
Some interesting Cretaceous marine reptile bones hiding in two concretions about 10 meters apart. A shame they weigh a couple of tons each or I could have tried prepping them 😁 . . .
I love heading out early in the morning to go explore and find some fossils. Usually it is quiet, cold and very lonely on the remote New Zealand beaches where the fossils hide... plus the crab fossils are nocturnal so you can bag a few before the sun rises 😁 . . . . . #

Awesome surprise inside the Miocene era concretion! I suspect it is a crayfish, some type of decapod at least 🤔 it popped open beautifully with a few taps of my hammer. Edit: it is a large claw! . . . . .
I'm hoping someone recognizes this fossil I found at a Cretaceous deposit. I've included some microscope photos at about 120x zoom. It looks like a section of bone but I'm unsure. . . . . .
My biggest piece of Moa bone yet! Fossilized as well, just about 26cm long and weighs 0.5kg. That's pretty much 1ft long and weighs 1 lbs 😁 Found it in my latest video which is up, link in my bio. Thinking it could be a section of tibiatarsus. Might soon have enough bits for a complete leg section 😁 I was in touch with a Moa expert and he might like to study it further so it might be heading to a new home soon. . . . . .
Found this shark tooth in my latest video. I think it's a Mako. What do the shark experts over there think? No serrations. Link to my YouTube channel in my bio. - - - -
